In a lawsuit filed Friday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Santa Rosa, the county accuses Vacation Rentals USA owner Joann Beckman of fraud, embezzlement and tax evasion.
Beckman closed the rental company in January. She sought Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection in November, but the county is now requesting the court to throw out that case to prevent her from unloading any debts.
Beckman owes more than $1.4 million to more than 100 creditors.
The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office has also opened a fraud and embezzlement investigation against Beckman.
Beckman's attorney did not immediately return a call seeking comment Tuesday.
